Will the webinar be recorded and available for viewing at a later date?
We will try our best to record the webinars. However, we have had difficulty with this in the past due to technological or other issues. Unfortunately, at this time, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to make recordings of the webinars available.
If a recording is successful, we will make it available on our website 2-3 weeks after the live webinar. Due to financial and resource constraints, we cannot guarantee that our recording equipment will produce high-quality videos.
*Dysphagia and Incomplete Glottic Closure will not be recorded
Are CEUs (continuing education units) offered for the webinars?
We are not offering CEUs for our live webinars at this time. However, we have partnered with Endo-Education (www.endo-education.com) to offer CEUs for our webinars that are successfully recorded. We currently have two webinars available for CEUs.
To view these webinars and receive CEU credit, please visit: http://endo-education.com/online-ceus/.
The NFOSD Webinars are titled:
-When Images Aren’t Enough: High-Resolution Manometry in Complex Dysphagia, presented by Molly Knigge
-Aspiration Pneumonia, presented by Tiffany Mohr
Why are you charging a fee to participate in the webinar?
While we would love to make this event free to everyone, the NFOSD is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that relies on the generosity of our family, friends, and members to provide the financial support required to carry out our commitment to providing patient hope and improving the quality of life for those suffering from all types of swallowing disorders. We do this by enhancing direct patient support, education, research, and raising public, professional, and governmental awareness. Our mission is to advance the prevention and treatment of swallowing disorders in our lifetime. We thank you for your understanding and generous support of our Foundation.

How much does the webinar cost?
There are two payment options to attend the Dysphagia Webinars:
a) Become an NFOSD member: Visit our membership page and gain access to all of our 2015 webinars. Membership fees begin at $10. Suggested membership fees: Patients/caregivers ($10); SLPs ($25); Physicians ($50). NFOSD Membership is annual and can be renewed on a yearly basis.
b) Make a nominal donation: A donation of $5 to $20 (per webinar) is required to attend this event. Visit our website home page at www.nfosd.com and click the “Donate” button at the right-hand section on the screen. Suggested donations: Patients/caregivers ($5); SLPs ($10); Physicians ($20).
What do I need in order to participate in the webinars?
All you need is a computer with a high-speed Internet connection and speakers / headphones. You will be able to type and send in any questions you may have for the presenter. This process will be explained in the introduction of each webinar. Smart phone devices (e.g., iPhones, Androids) will allow you to view the screen and hear the audio, but you will be unable to see the presenter. We strongly recommend using a desktop or laptop.
How long is each webinar?
Each webinar is scheduled to last approximately 90 minutes. There will be a brief introduction at the start of each webinar, about 45 minutes for the presentation, and then up to 30 minutes for Q&A.
How do I log into the webinar?
Once you complete the registration form and after you pay the registration fee*, you will receive a confirmation email sent from “Webinar info [customercare@gotowebinar.com]”, the company we use to host our webinars. The link for the webinar will be included in this email. Please save this email, as you will need this link to log on; it is unique to you. If you do not receive a confirmation email within 1 business day after registering and paying the event fee, please check your spam folder. In our experience, if you do not receive a confirmation email to your inbox, it most likely ended up in your spam folder. If the confirmation email is not in your inbox or your spam folder, please email us at info@nfosd.com and we will re-send your confirmation email.
*Note, if you are already an NFOSD member (or you made a donation for this event), please ignore comments related to the registration fee, we will process your registration without any additional fee.
About 20 minutes before the webinar is scheduled to begin, click on the link that was sent to you in the confirmation or reminder email.
Note: GoToWebinar automatically sends you reminder emails (that include the access link) 24 hours and 1 hour before the webinar.
How early should I log on to the webinar?
You will be able to log on to the webinar 20 minutes before the webinar is scheduled to begin. We strongly recommend you log on early. This way we can help troubleshoot any problems you may have with the GoToWebinar software. If you are having difficulties logging on, please email us at info@nfosd.com. We will respond as quickly as we can to help resolve any problems.
We have listed some common problems below with suggested solutions.
a) I can’t see the video using my smart device: In some cases, people using smart devices (e.g., iPhones) were unable to view the presenter or the presentation slides. We recommend using a desktop or laptop computer that has high-speed, reliable Internet connection.
Once you log on using one device, GoToWebinar will prevent you from logging into the webinar on a different device (e.g., switching from an iPhone to a laptop).
b) I can’t hear the audio once I’ve logged in: Usually this problem can be solved by logging out of the webinar and logging back in. To do this, close the program by clicking the [x] (on a PC) or the red circle (on a Mac). Then, log in again using the same link and password. Please check that your computer’s volume is not muted and that your computer’s sound capabilities work.
If neither of the solutions above work to restore your audio, try calling in with your phone. The number will be included in the GoToWebinar confirmation and reminder emails. This will allow you to listen to the webinar on your phone, and still see the presentation on your screen.
c) The videos seem to lag, or appear blurry: This is due to Internet connectivity; it may be due to a slower connection on the presenter’s side, or because of your Internet. Unfortunately, there is very little we can do to reduce this.
d) Other problems: The following is a link to the GoToWebinar customer support page: GoToWebinar Customer Support; it includes a list of FAQs and how to solve other issues that may not be listed here.
How long does my membership last?
NFOSD Membership is annual and can be renewed on a yearly calendar basis. We will kindly ask you to consider renewing your NFOSD membership for access to the 2015 webinars scheduled in this series.
