Hi,
I am a head and neck cancer survivor and had radiation treatment, among other therapies, about 10 years ago. My medical team emphasized the importance of vigilant oral care due to a weakened jaw (reduced blood flow) and loss of saliva to help prevent gum infection and tooth loss. Although I’m on a liquid diet, I brush, floss, use biotene mouthwash, a tongue scraper, and have dental exams every six weeks where they do a cleaning and apply a fluoride paste. Even with all this care, my mouth rarely feels clean. I have had some oral care issues (increased cavities), but so far they have been minor.
Does anyone have any other suggestions as to good (or better) oral care?
